I.W. Harper 34-year-old edition

United Creatives Studio

Manchester, UK

Teaming up with Diageo and BrandArc to design for I.W. Harper’s 34-year-old edition, we pushed the limits of packaging and label design, using a handcrafted origami ruff and a bespoke produced silk scarf wrap.

With Colman Domingo leading the charge, five bottles were auctioned at Sotheby’s to support Native Son’s work in black queer visibility. A design story rooted in craft and purpose.

Curator’s Insight

The I.W. Harper 34-Year-Old edition elevates luxury whisky packaging through meticulous craft and theatrical presentation. The bottle is crowned with a handcrafted origami ruff, introducing sculptural drama and couture-level detail. The faceted glass amplifies the whisky’s amber depth, pairing heritage cues with contemporary precision. Branding remains confident yet restrained, allowing materials, form, and craftsmanship to do the heavy lifting. This is a collector-grade object that blurs the line between spirits packaging and art piece. Bold, expressive, and unapologetically premium, while reinforcing I.W. Harper’s narrative of refinement, legacy, and modern cultural relevance.
