Color Psychology and Product Segmentation
In the world of coffee, color allows the consumer to “taste” the aroma before even opening the bag. A “Chromatic Differentiation” strategy was utilized in this project:
- Ethiopia Yirgacheffe (Filter): The rich brown/bronze tones used on the body emphasize the earthy connection of these beans, which are known for their fruity and bright acidity.
- Midnight Blend (Espresso): True to its name, the combination of deep navy and black evokes a sense of “night” and “intensity.” When paired with gold typography, the resulting contrast elevates the product’s Premium/Luxury perception to its peak.
Information Architecture and Readability
The most critical information for a coffee lover (Roast level, tasting notes, region) was placed in the most easily scannable area of the packaging:
- Iconographic Roast Level: The bean icons at the bottom allow the consumer to understand the intensity level at a single glance.
- Tasting Notes Panel: Presenting notes such as “Jasmine, Bergamot” or “Dark Chocolate, Brown Sugar” within a blocked panel promises a professional cupping experience.
- Escape from Typographic Chaos: A perfect balance was aimed for between the curvaceous lines of the logo and the clean, modern sans-serif fonts used for variant names.
Structural Design and Freshness Engineering
This packaging form follows the gold standard of the coffee industry: the “Flat Bottom Gusseted Bag” structure.
- Shelf Presence: Thanks to the flat bottom structure, the package stands upright and firm, like a valuable book on a library shelf.
- Protective Barrier: Oxygen is the greatest enemy of coffee. This design incorporates a high-barrier metallized layer and a “One-Way Valve” (implied) that allows carbon dioxide to escape while preventing external air from entering.
