“Tenseki” is derived from the Japanese on’yomi (phonetic reading) of the Chinese characters for “touch stone.” In the Chinese cultural context, “touch stone turns into gold” is an ancient fable about transformation—a single touch of a finger turns a mere stone into gold. In the world of climbing, every rock wall is covered with holds known as “rock points.” Climbers grip these holds with their fingertips, transforming their body weight and willpower into upward momentum, reaching the top step by step. In the world of coffee, a green coffee bean, through the precise “touch” of a roaster, releases the flavors hidden deep within its cell walls, becoming an amber liquid in the cup that awakens the drinker’s senses.

The brand concept of Tenseki Coffee quantifies the texture of flavor through graphic color blocks representing rock points, and then transitions these color blocks into line textures, expressing a shift from modular thinking to route planning. This enables coffee flavors to present multi-layered variations, much like the flexibility and diversity of climbing routes.

Tenseki is not simply a “climbing-themed café” label, but rather a complete experience language system. Climbers often say, “The route itself is information.” Every climbing route has its difficulty, rhythm, key moves, and unique character. Tenseki Coffee fully translates this concept into its coffee products—we no longer classify coffee using technical terms such as “light roast,” “medium roast,” or “fruity acidity.” Instead, we introduce the climbing difficulty grading system (V0 / V4 / V6 / The Crux), turning each coffee into a “climbable tasting route.”
