La Rhumerie Mauricienne

Appartement 103

Appartement 103 is proud to unveil its design work for La Rhumerie Mauricienne, a new rhum arrangé brand created to capture the richness, warmth, and natural abundance of Mauritius through a distinctive packaging identity. In a dynamic rhum arrangé category, the challenge was to create a brand capable of standing out in mainstream retail while clearly communicating origin, quality, authenticity, and appetite appeal.

Produced locally and artisanally at Distillerie de Labourdonnais in the north of Mauritius, La Rhumerie Mauricienne combines fresh pure cane juice rum, distilled shortly after the cane is cut, with carefully selected ripe fruits from the estate’s orchards.

The creative ambition was to make Mauritius the visual hero. At the heart of the identity is a distinctive die-cut label inspired by the silhouette of the island itself. More than a graphic device, this shape becomes a meaningful and memorable brand asset, anchoring the range in its place of origin while creating an ownable visual code.

Within this island-shaped frame, Appartement 103 developed a rich illustrative world inspired by Mauritius’ natural generosity. Tropical foliage, palm structures, orchard fruits, spices, and botanical forms come together in vibrant compositions that express flavour, freshness, and abundance. The result is colourful, luminous, and warm, designed to create immediate shelf impact while bringing the sensorial pleasure of the product to life.

To balance this expressive illustration, the pack architecture remains clean, structured, and premium. The white label system ensures clarity and legibility, while the wordmark, gold architectural emblem, and “Fabrication Artisanale” seal build recognition, heritage, and craft credentials.

Across the range, each SKU has its own flavourful personality while remaining part of a coherent and scalable visual system. Colour-coded neck bands support navigation, natural cork closures reinforce the artisanal character, and visible fruits, spices, and botanicals make the liquid itself part of the storytelling.
