Furoshiki Packaging explores a different approach by asking a simple question: what if the packaging itself deserved to be kept?

Inspired by the centuries-old Japanese wrapping tradition, the project transforms packaging into a reusable system rather than a disposable container. Instead of designing around the product, the entire experience revolves around the fabric and its long-term use.

A single self-locking structure, produced from recycled paper, stores and protects the furoshiki while referencing the folds of traditional Japanese garments. Once opened, the package becomes permanent storage for the cloth, extending its usefulness beyond the initial purchase.

Rather than adding complexity, the project demonstrates how historical knowledge can inspire contemporary packaging solutions that naturally encourage longer product lifecycles.
