Here’s a concept featured in my recent conversation with Evelio Mattos on Packaging Unboxed.
We developed a product idea from concept to brand direction in 30 minutes, exploring everything from naming and strategy to structure and design. One of the concepts I developed for that idea was SPACHO, a savory hydration beverage inspired by the markets, street art, and culinary culture of Barcelona.
SPACHO challenges the category convention of sweet, dessert-inspired functional drinks by looking to food culture for inspiration. Drawing from the fresh flavors of gazpacho, the concept reimagines hydration as a savory, ingredient-driven experience with clean energy, low sugar, and functional nutrition.
The visual identity takes cues from Barcelona’s vibrant graffiti culture, combining oversized typography, bold ingredient-inspired colors, and simple line illustrations to create a system that feels expressive, modern, and instantly recognizable.
A big thanks to Evelio for creating a format that captures the messy, exciting process of building a brand from the ground up.
