Les Petites: A Layered World of Character and Craft for Carpo
The brief called for packaging that could elevate a simple wafer into an object of delight while expressing Carpo’s belief that living is a form of art. The challenge was to create a visual system that felt premium, culturally expressive and instantly distinguishable across varieties, without relying on conventional category cues.
Drawing inspiration from the wafer’s own layered texture, the packaging artwork echoes this rhythm through circular, pleated forms that reference historical ruffs. This sculptural silhouettes give the product an iconic presence while reinforcing the idea of indulgence through layers.
Inside each ruff, an illustrated lady comes to life. Playful, personality-rich figures who appear to nestle into their voluminous collars. Each character reflects a different facet of Carpo’s fusion culture, acting simultaneously as emotional storytelling elements and intuitive color-coding for flavor differentiation. The result is a visual language that is whimsical yet refined, culturally layered yet immediately readable.
Ultimately, the innovation lies in reimagining a traditional decorative form as a packaging feature and in using illustration not merely as ornamentation, but as a distinct branding device. The system transforms a familiar treat into a miniature world of characters, craft, and cultural storytelling, inviting consumers into the vibrant universe of Carpo with every layer.
