Project overview

The Olicatessen Gift Hampers were conceived as packaging with lasting value. The goal was to move beyond disposable gift boxes and create objects that extend their life well after the gifting moment. The project resulted in a series of three sturdy boxes designed to carry curated gourmet hampers and later be reused in the home.

Concept & inspiration: The visual language draws inspiration from the fruits and vegetables of the Greek land — symbols of seasonality, abundance and everyday nourishment. Abstract illustrations and vibrant yet balanced colours reference traditional markets while maintaining a contemporary, design-focused aesthetic.

Material & structure: Crafted from thick, durable cardboard and tin, the boxes are designed to withstand weight, transport and repeated use. Their solid construction allows them to safely carry gourmet products and transition effortlessly into storage or decorative objects.

Sustainability & reuse: Sustainability is central to the concept. The boxes are used extensively at Olicatessen as an alternative to plastic and single-use packaging, supporting an ecological mindset through reuse.

Once their initial purpose is fulfilled, the boxes naturally integrate into everyday living — used for home storage, bookshelf organisation or as decorative elements that continue to tell a story of thoughtful design and responsible consumption.

Outcome: The Olicatessen Gift Hampers combine durability, visual storytelling and sustainability. They transform gift packaging into a meaningful, reusable object — designed not to be discarded, but to remain part of the home.
