Overview:

This is a curated gifting hamper by Bombay Sweet Shop designed for shared consumption during house gatherings. It brings together a mix of sweets, snacks, and beverages, combined with interactive elements, to transform passive eating into an engaging, social experience. The product targets group settings, friends, families, and multi-generational get-togethers, where food becomes a medium for bonding.

Concept:

The core concept is “Happiness in Gathering” evoking nostalgia, playfulness, and togetherness.

The packaging moves beyond being a container and becomes an experience facilitator. It taps into familiar Indian social rituals snacking, playing games, and casual banter by integrating elements that trigger shared memories, such as board games and witty phrases like “Aaj Tu Upar Kal Tu Neeche.”

It is designed to recreate the emotional warmth of old-school house meets, where food and play co-exist seamlessly.

Solution:

The solution was to design a multi-functional hamper system that:

  • Organizes diverse products (sweets, namkeen, beverages) in a structured, layered format
  • Integrates built-in gameplay (snakes & ladders board) directly into the packaging
  • Encourages interaction and reuse, rather than disposal after consumption
  • Acts as both a serving unit and activity kit during gatherings

This transforms the packaging into an active participant in the social setting.

Structure Details:

  • 3ply corrugated sheet construction with fold-out flaps
  • Modular compartments for product segregation
  • Flat-lay transformation into a playable board surface
  • High-saturation gradient palette (pinks, oranges, yellows) to evoke vibrancy and festivity
  • Contemporary Indian visual language with playful motifs and typography
  • Integrated instructional graphics for gameplay

What is Unique:

  • Packaging as a game: The box unfolds into a fully functional snakes & ladders board, merging product and play
  • Built for gatherings, not individuals: Unlike typical hampers, this is explicitly designed for shared use
  • Afterlife value: The packaging remains usable even after consumption, extending its lifecycle
