ABOUT
Yoyo Laos Sauce is an independent chilli sauce brand built around a love of bold flavours and handmade products. Hartson Creative was approached by co-owner Frazer to rebrand the business and create a distinctive identity that would help it stand out as it grew beyond its original, home-produced beginnings.
The aim was to develop a visual identity that felt authentic to the product, capturing its handmade character while giving the brand the confidence and consistency needed to reach a wider audience.
SOLUTION
At the heart of the rebrand is a distinctive logo constructed from hand-stamped shapes. Rather than opting for a polished, mass-produced aesthetic, the identity embraces an imperfect, tactile quality that reflects the character of the sauce itself.
This approach was carried through to the packaging and product labels, creating a recognisable identity across the range. As the business expanded, the packaging evolved alongside it, accommodating new flavours, limited editions and the additional labelling requirements associated with moving production to Laos and entering international markets, including the USA.
RESULT
What began as a rebranding project has developed into an ongoing creative partnership, with Hartson Creative continuing to support the brand as its product range and distribution grow.
Yoyo Laos Sauce is now stocked by Selfridges, Ocado and Booths. The project demonstrates how a distinctive brand identity and considered packaging can help an independent food business establish its personality, stand out on the shelf and grow into new markets without losing the handmade character at the heart of the brand.
