RocketGro produces organic, peat-free compost using a nutrient-rich by-product of anaerobic digestion, a process that turns crops such as rye, maize and grass into renewable biogas. Rather than letting this valuable natural material go to waste, RocketGro gives it a second life as the base ingredient for its compost and soil improvers.
We worked with the team to develop a brand identity and packaging range that would challenge expectations of what a compost brand could look like. Rather than relying on the familiar visual language of eco-friendly products, we wanted RocketGro to feel bold, distinctive and full of character. The aim was to stand out in the garden centre while reflecting the natural origins and quality of the product.
Taking inspiration from vintage agricultural signage we developed an identity that draws on the heritage of farming. Bold, blocky condensed typography gives the packaging weight, while simple illustrations arranged in radial bursts bring energy to the range. The result is a distinctive look that feels at home in the world of gardening, without looking like everything else on the shelf.
