Marble Brewery in Albuquerque, New Mexico, is a winner of multiple awards and was recently named Small Brewing Company and Small Brewing Company Brewer of the Year by the Great American Beer Festival 2014.
After 6 years in business, Marble felt it was time to rethink their visual identity and branding. The old identity was not flexible enough to meet their growing needs, and it didn’t reflect the true culture of the brewery.
Our research was the catalyst for a totally new identity that embodies Marble’s independent, fearless, adventurous spirit, and that of their customers. A symbol that quite literally represents how Albuquerque has embraced Marble Brewery and cherishes it dearly. Imagery supported by brand messaging that expresses an obsession with quality.
CLASSIC BEER PACKAGING
Marble is a cornerstone of the Albuquerque community. A sense of place and source of inspiration is captured in the punctilious photo-illustrations on the beer cans and bottle labels which depict local city, bosque, and desert-scapes.
Each bottle label has a unique die-cut which interacts with the illustration, and is printed with spot PMS plus a metallic silver, on uncoated paper, to give a soft shimmery detail effect.
The can designs make use of the aluminum material with ink knockouts integrated into the illustrations, allowing the (aluminum) silver to show through, highlighting certain key details and mimicking the label printing. We used a double hit of white to make the aluminum peeking through a more dramatic contrast effect.
