Quinta do Gradil asked for the students to develop a conceptual wine packaging (a troncoconic Bordeaux bottle label, a collar, one bottle box and three bottle box) based on a old legend of the farms chapel. It aimed to be sold as an special edition that would return it’s profits to a local wild animal help center and to recover the same chapel. Also to promote outdoor activities in the Montejunto Sierra (central of Portugal where the vineyard is located) as bird watching.

The Legend:
“Legend says that in the montejunto sierra was a chapel in honor to Saint Rita of Cácia. Whispers and cries were heard from there. A certain night a boy adventured himself into the chapel to unveil the mystery. When he entered all the superstitions were ended. After all, the moans that the villagers listened to were the sounds of an owl that lived there.”

The Concept:
It’s in the beginning of the animation technique that the project takes its biggest inspiration. Zoetropes and thaumatropes help us to idealize the whole project. Based on this we could then capture the owls movement and in this way refer to the owl’s flight. An illustration of the montejunto sierra is on the the base of the boxes that is used to make a scenario of the legend. Simultaneously the bottle and it’s 3 different supports have practical and ludic propose!
