Arthur Market Packaging Design by Barna Design — A Modular Label System for Meat Processing Products
Arthur Market is a Hungarian e-commerce brand specialising in traditional meat processing products, including spice blends, natural casings, artificial casings and butcher supplies. Barna Design created a complete packaging and label design system for the brand, combining food packaging design, category-based visual differentiation and a scalable brand identity system. The project was developed to help Arthur Market communicate expertise, reliability and tradition while creating a clear, contemporary and recognisable market presence for both professional butchers and home sausage makers.
Background
Arthur Market serves a specialised audience: professional butchers, small-scale producers and home users who prepare traditional meat products, sausages and cured goods. The brand needed a visual system that could support a broad and practical product range while still feeling consistent, trustworthy and easy to navigate.
The challenge was not only to design individual labels, but to create a packaging structure that could work across different product categories and remain flexible as the product portfolio grows.
Design Challenge
The main objective was to build a packaging identity that balances tradition and professionalism with a clean, contemporary visual language. Since Arthur Market sells both flavour-led products, such as spice blends, and technical products, such as natural and artificial casings, the design system had to make the differences between categories clear without fragmenting the overall brand identity.
The packaging also needed to work effectively in an online shopping environment, where customers often make decisions based on small product thumbnails, quick recognition and clear category cues.
Visual Concept
The final design system uses two distinct but connected visual directions.
For the spice blends, we introduced appetising food photography to create an immediate connection with flavour, preparation and the final product experience. The images help customers quickly understand the character and intended use of each spice mix.
For the natural and artificial casings, we used a more restrained and heritage-driven approach. Black-and-white, vintage-inspired illustrations evoke old butcher manuals, traditional craft books and classic engraved prints. This gives the category a professional, expert-led tone and strengthens the connection to traditional meat processing.
Packaging System
The system was designed to be modular and scalable. Each product category has its own recognisable visual language, while the overall layout, typography and brand structure remain consistent across the range.
This approach allows Arthur Market to introduce new products without losing visual coherence. It also helps customers identify product types more easily, whether they are browsing online or comparing items within a larger product selection.
Result
The result is a coherent packaging and label design system that combines craft tradition with contemporary brand clarity. The Arthur Market packaging identity helps the brand communicate professional expertise, product reliability and category-level clarity.
Through this project, Barna Design created a flexible food packaging design system that supports both brand recognition and practical product navigation, making Arthur Market more accessible to professional and home users alike.
