Cocola Gâteaux

Cocola Gâteaux is a children’s chocolate biscuit brand created around a simple idea: replacing refined sugar with dates while keeping the recipe short and uncomplicated.

The name comes from the way many French toddlers pronounce the word “chocolat” when they first learn to speak — “cocola”. This small and familiar linguistic accident became the foundation for the entire brand, capturing the spontaneity, innocence, and joy of childhood.

Instead of building the brand around nutritional claims, the project focuses on childhood itself. The challenge was to create a snack that feels playful and desirable while reflecting the simplicity of its ingredients.

Inspired by children’s books and the visual world of young kids, the packaging transforms typography into illustration. Oversized letterforms become the main graphic asset, creating a distinctive identity built almost entirely from words.

Bright colours, expressive compositions, and playful copy help the brand stand apart from the conventional visual language of children’s snacks. The design shifts the focus from nutritional messaging to emotion, imagination, and delight.

By turning a child’s mispronunciation into a complete visual world, Cocola Gâteaux creates a memorable and scalable packaging system with a strong emotional core. The project demonstrates that a more mindful treat can still feel bold, fun, and full of personality—proving that simplicity doesn’t have to be boring.
