Éclair

ÉCLAIR is a fragrance concept born from the transformation of one of the most universal objects in everyday life: the traditional light bulb. Rather than simply borrowing its silhouette, the project reinterprets the entire language of the object — its glass volume, metallic screw base, transparency and relationship with light — to create a perfume bottle with a strong and immediately recognizable identity.

The concept begins with a simple idea: fragrance and light share something intangible. Neither can truly be held, yet both have the power to transform an atmosphere, trigger emotion and leave a lasting impression. ÉCLAIR translates this parallel into packaging. The rounded glass body recalls the familiar geometry of a classic bulb, while the warm amber fragrance replaces the source of light and gives the bottle a luminous presence of its own.

The metallic screw socket becomes one of the central elements of the design. Instead of being treated as a decorative reference, it is transformed into a functional cap. Once removed, it reveals the perfume atomizer hidden underneath, creating an unexpected interaction between object and user. This gesture turns the act of opening the fragrance into a small ritual: the familiar mechanics of a light bulb are reinterpreted through the codes of luxury perfumery.

Materiality plays an essential role in the project. Thick transparent glass enhances the purity of the silhouette and allows the amber liquid to interact naturally with reflections and surrounding light. The metallic finish introduces contrast, precision and a more architectural character, while the minimal typography gives space to the form itself. The branding remains deliberately restrained so that the bottle can function almost like a designed object before being perceived as conventional perfume packaging.

The name ÉCLAIR reinforces this relationship with illumination, energy and instant sensation. It suggests both a flash of light and a sudden emotional impact — something brief, intense and memorable. This idea guided the visual identity as well as the photographic direction of the project, where warm highlights, reflections, transparency and shadow are used to make the bottle appear as if it were generating its own light.

The objective was to create packaging that feels familiar and surprising at the same time. The light bulb is an object known across cultures, generations and environments, but here its industrial character is elevated through proportion, glassmaking, finishing and detailing. The result is a bottle that sits somewhere between fragrance, sculpture and functional design.

ÉCLAIR also explores the idea of display. When closed, the bottle visually recreates the complete silhouette of a traditional bulb, allowing it to exist almost like a small luminous object placed on a shelf, vanity or retail display. When opened, the design reveals its second identity as a functional perfume bottle. This dual reading creates a distinctive experience both in use and in presentation.

The project was developed around the principle of reduction: one strong idea, one iconic silhouette and a limited number of materials. Rather than adding decorative elements, the design relies on proportion, transparency, light and construction to create its character. Every element has a role, from the rounded glass body to the screw-inspired cap and the discreet atomizer hidden beneath it.

Ultimately, ÉCLAIR proposes a different way of thinking about fragrance packaging. Instead of designing another bottle inspired by traditional luxury codes, the project takes a humble everyday object and gives it a new meaning. Through this transformation, the ordinary becomes desirable, the technical becomes emotional, and the familiar becomes iconic.

ÉCLAIR is not simply a perfume contained inside a bottle. It is an object built around the idea that fragrance, like light, has the ability to change the way a space feels — invisible, immediate and unforgettable.
