The challenge was to create packaging for RARA AVIS PARFUMS that would stand apart from the conventional codes of niche perfumery while expressing its positioning: olfactory dissidence. We developed a premium packaging system in which a sculptural bottle symbolically conceals the character inspiring each fragrance, while the box reveals its identity through portraits, graphics and tactile finishes. The result is a distinctive, collectible and scalable design that transforms brand strategy into a visual, physical and emotional experience.
Curator’s Insight
The beaked cap quietly puns on the brand name, and the draped body reads as a cloaked figure, so the bottle works as a silhouette before any label is read. Pairing it with the same sculpt in black and white shows how far a single form can travel through tone alone. The portrait tag on a cord behaves like a pendant, a small object that can be worn or kept, which supports the collectible intent. On the box, glossy lines over a matte ground create a contour pattern that recalls fingerprints, tying the “rare” idea to individuality. Because the shells stay monochrome, the portrait becomes the only color, and each new character can change the mood without touching the structure.
