This project was part of our college assignment, where we were tasked with designing both a game and its packaging, ensuring the design reflects the game’s theme. The game concept was inspired by chess, but with a twist. The game titled Spacewar, is a 15-minute competitive strategy game that captures the essence of space warfare.
In Spacewar, each player controls seven pawns, one of which is a master pawn. The game introduces a unique strategic element, focusing on what not to do, rather than just planning moves. Players are given three cards, which they pick without knowing what’s on them. The cards dictate the specific movements the players must follow for each turn. Once a card is used, it’s passed to the other player, and the cycle continues until one player eliminates all the pawns of their opponent to win.
The game combines quick thinking and strategy, challenging players to anticipate and outmaneuver their opponent with limited options. The design and packaging reflect the space theme, further enhancing the immersive experience.
