Spineda Merlot

Design Associati had the honor to design the packaging and label for Spineda, the new masterpiece from Loredan Gasparini Winery, located in Treviso, Italy.

Spineda is an emotional, limited-edition red wine: only 1505 bottles and 82 magnums were produced, obtained from an extraordinary selection of Merlot grapes from the 2017 vintage.

Storytelling & Inspiration

The wine takes its name from the Spineda family, who, since the 1500s, has contributed to enhancing the area of Venegazzù, where this exceptional Merlot is grown.

The label design emphasizes the winery’s deep connection with its land: it features an extract from a Napoleonic cadastral map from the 1800s, showing the vineyards and rural buildings that are still part of the estate today. This historical layer roots the wine’s identity in its territory, celebrating heritage while elevating the brand.

Design Features

Typography: we selected the elegant Caslon typeface, designing the entire back label with six variations (Medium, Medium Italic, Book, Book Italic, Bold, and Black) to create a dynamic and refined textual composition.

Printing technique: two Pantone colors (Warm Gray) combined with embossed printing bring tactile sophistication and highlight the prestige of this limited edition.

Visual identity: a balance between tradition and contemporary refinement, echoing the exclusivity of Spineda.

Packaging system: conceived to reflect the uniqueness of the wine, while ensuring strong recognition across formats.

Spineda demonstrates how wine label design can merge history, typography, and craft printing to create a powerful and distinctive identity. The map connects the wine to its land, while the type system and production techniques highlight sophistication and rarity.
