Design Case Study — Full Narrative

The new packaging system for BAWI Apples is built around a simple yet profound truth: water is life—and without water, there is no fruit. Water is origin, movement, energy, and growth. It nourishes the land, shapes the harvest, and gives character to every apple. This premise becomes the conceptual foundation for the entire visual identity.

BAWI apples grow at the rhythm of the earth, fed by rain, sun, and the dormant energy of the land in Chihuahua, México. To bring that story to life, the design embraces an illustrative botanical language: expressive ink drawings that wrap around the box like living branches. The artwork evokes a sense of abundance and organic movement, making the packaging feel as if it is still connected to the orchard it came from.

The deep black illustrations contrast against a vibrant, sun-lit yellow—chosen to represent maturity, warmth, and the radiant moment when an apple is at its peak. This bold chromatic choice helps BAWI stand out in a category dominated by generic produce boxes, elevating it into a premium, culturally rooted brand.

At the center, the BAWI emblem functions as a seal of origin and authenticity. Its clean, iconic form anchors the composition, acting as a badge of pride for a product grown in one of Mexico’s most renowned apple regions. Surrounding details—such as the Hecho en México mark and the heritage signature of Manzanas El Indio—reinforce a narrative of craftsmanship, regional identity, and agricultural excellence.

This packaging is not just a container.
