The Buddha Bear brand approached me to design a tube for their new product.
They’ve launched a new item — a pareo/robe for the beach or for home.
There weren’t many requirements. The client asked for the tube to be bright, unusual, and not tied to the prints on the robes. They also requested that we not use product photos.
Here is the solution I proposed.
A vibrant summer tube with an abstract, seaside-themed illustration.
The shapes are soft and rounded. Everyone can see something different in this illustration: some see the sun, some see a stingray with legs, others see something else entirely.
I like packaging that keeps “talking” to the customer for as long as possible,
so the design works from every angle. On the back of the tube there’s a small guide that shows how to give the packaging a second life so that customers don’t just throw it away.
There’s also a small message hidden on the bottom — “From home to the beach!” — to highlight the product’s purpose.
And the project didn’t end with just the tube. We also developed a hang tag and a shipping box.
The hang tag is an interesting extra communication tool. The front continues the design of the tube, while the back references airplane tickets — the kind that can easily take us on a journey.
All images are real photographs.
