Atelier Panciu 1789 Pinot NoirCHALLENGE

The challenge was to introduce a new Pinot Noir into the established premium Atelier Panciu 1789 range without disrupting the visual coherence of the collection.

Each wine in the range is produced in a limited edition of exactly 1,789 bottles, referencing 1789 — the year of the first documented mention of the Panciu wine region. The design therefore had to preserve the recognisable identity of the collection while giving the new Pinot Noir its own distinctive character.

SOLUTION

We approached the project as an extension of an existing premium wine system rather than as a standalone label.

The new design follows the established structure and brand codes of Atelier Panciu 1789, while introducing a deeper, more expressive visual tone inspired by the character of Pinot Noir.

Premium materials, refined finishing techniques and a carefully controlled colour palette were used to strengthen the wine’s positioning and create a clear sense of continuity across the range.

CHARACTER & ILLUSTRATION

The personality of the Pinot Noir is expressed through a rich, dark colour palette combined with warm metallic details.

The sun and moon motifs, already part of the visual universe of Moșia Panciu, were integrated as debossed elements. Beyond their decorative role, they reference the natural cycles of the vineyard, the local terroir and the time, patience and craftsmanship involved in winemaking.

These details give the label additional depth and tactility while reinforcing the story behind the collection.

VISUAL LANGUAGE

The visual language balances elegance, restraint and strong shelf presence.

Typography, colour, texture and finishing were developed to maintain the premium character of the Atelier Panciu 1789 range while ensuring that the Pinot Noir remains clearly identifiable within the collection.

The contrast between the dark background, vivid Pinot-inspired tones and metallic accents creates a sophisticated appearance that works both from a distance and through close-up tactile details.

OUTCOME

The final design extends the Atelier Panciu 1789 collection in a coherent and recognisable way while giving the Pinot Noir a distinct identity of its own.

The packaging was designed to perform across two key commercial environments: HoReCa, where the bottle becomes part of the overall serving experience, and the winery’s own retail store, where the label needs to stand out on the shelf while remaining immediately recognisable as part of the Atelier Panciu 1789 range.

The result is a premium wine packaging solution that connects product character, terroir and brand heritage within one consistent visual system.
