About- Our idea stems from MAP, the Museum of Art and Photography’s vision of democratizing and learning art. We have created a hypothetical workshop that aligns with their approach to educating about Indian art in a fun and meaningful manner. But why a workshop kit? Since most of the ventures they have involve coming to MAP, we ideated a concept that can offer an out-of-the-museum experience for school kids, enabling them to develop a connection with Indian culture and arts.
Solution- Our idea breaks the compulsive monotony of learning about Indian arts in a conventional way. We’ve incorporated variety through interactive activities to encourage self-expression, leading to a diverse range of experiences. Our workshop kit is designed to facilitate education in three stages: passive teaching, tactile exploration, and group dialogue. In the visual and tactile treatment of our packaging, we’ve utilized multiple textures and variations of materials. Aligning our design with MAP’s identity and perception, we aim to increase people’s empathy towards art and subsequently bring them to the experiential space of MAP.
We have developed two kits based on two different themes, which are derived from the holistic essence of MAP in terms of its environment, mood, and visual interaction, along with the fundamental principles of Indian art. The two themes are Tactile Minimalism and Expressive Voices, respectively. The package of tactile minimalism, with subtle visual language, consists of elements of transparency and materials such as frosted acrylic, cardboard, and vellum paper. Whereas the package of Expressive Voices, with a vibrant constrasting language includes paper-based materials like cardboard, craft paper, and mill-board.
All the print papers and structural materials used in both directions are 100% recyclable and hold huge reusability value. Features like stackability, modular trays, and removable partitions ensure the good reuse value of the packaging.
Result- The kit aims to foster a holistic approach to address the cognitive, emotional, social, and physical aspects of learning in an impactful way. The design is crafted in a way that stimulates recollection and holds educational value through the lasting remnants that leave an impression and allow re-engagement. In conclusion, our workshop kit is not merely a tool for education but a catalyst for comprehensive learning experiences.
