LIIS — FRAGRANCE PACKAGING DESIGN

1. Concept

The design is inspired by the growth patterns of plants, where each organism maintains just enough distance to create “breathing space,” while still existing within an interconnected system. This principle is translated into a conceptual packaging approach: minimal, raw, and intentionally imperfect. Instead of pursuing visual perfection, the system embraces controlled imperfection.

2. Visual System

At the core of the packaging is an illustration system derived from botanical elements — leaves, stems, and flowers.

Each line carries a handcrafted quality, deliberately imperfect, preserving the trace of human presence in the process. These illustrations are not decorative; they function as representations of scent components.

The composition is built upon the structure of perfumery:

  • Top Note
  • Heart Note
  • Base Note

Visual elements are arranged and layered accordingly, forming a system that reflects the diffusion and transformation of fragrance over time. Through this, the packaging becomes a visual translation of scent architecture.

3. Color System

The color palette is built on a minimalist foundation, using restrained tonal variations to create depth while maintaining visual clarity. Complementary hues, inspired by natural ingredients, are introduced with control — allowing the system to expand without losing coherence.

4. Material & Finishing

The packaging uses fine art paper, selected for its soft tactile quality and subtle textured surface. A rigid lid-and-base box structure reinforces a sense of stability and presence.

Botanical details are executed through embossing techniques, where illustrations are pressed into the surface rather than printed. This allows the imagery to emerge through light and shadow.

The combination of material, structure, and finishing results in a system that feels refined yet approachable, where luxury is defined by intention rather than complexity.
