Squeeze emerged from genuine sustainability thinking. Shannon Kamins, founder of Booch Organic Kombucha, one of Ontario’s first commercial kombucha brands, discovered that the lemongrass used in production still held essence after its first pressing. Rather than discard it, she created Squeeze: a zero-calorie sparkling water made from upcycled ingredients, available in Grapefruit, Lemon, and Seabuckthorn varieties. The brief called for packaging that communicated this sustainable innovation clearly, honoured the Booch brand ethos, and made an emphatic visual statement in the crowded sparkling water cooler.

Eye Candy Design developed a bold, colour-saturated label system that immediately communicates refreshment and differentiates each flavour variant. The palette is vibrant and confident, a deliberate contrast to the category’s tendency toward minimalist neutrals. A prominent banner callout highlights the “upcycled ingredients” story, making Squeeze’s environmental innovation the first thing a distributor or consumer notices. Typography and graphic elements stayed true to the established Booch brand voice, grounded, local, and values-led, while giving Squeeze its own distinct visual personality as a sub-brand.

The packaging delivered immediate commercial results. A Western Canadian distributor picked up the product specifically citing the label as the deciding factor: he praised the colours and the upcycled banner as compelling differentiators, and noted that in 15 years of business, he had never seen a sparkling water featuring lemongrass. Packaging turned a sustainability story into a distribution win.
