In undertaking the recent design and packaging project for The Perfect Fifth’s new Oran range, I embarked on a creative journey that was intricately woven with the brand’s profound commitment to excellence. The Perfect Fifth, a family-owned independent whisky bottler, is celebrated for its exceptional curation of premium Scotch whiskies, reflecting an unwavering dedication to quality.

The name “Oran” itself holds a deeper significance, symbolizing the rich musical heritage of ancient Scottish Gaelic tradition. It’s more than just a label; it’s a tribute to the soulful melodies and cultural traditions deeply rooted in the brand’s philosophy.

Throughout the design process, my emphasis was on precision and artistry. Every element, from the choice of materials to the application of techniques, was executed with meticulous attention to detail. Elements like bronze foil, embossing, and clear varnish were thoughtfully selected, not as mere adornments, but as strategic choices to enhance the overall presentation. They were carefully chosen to accentuate the luxurious finishes of each bottle within the Oran range, creating a visual narrative that speaks to the brand’s commitment to crafting exceptional whisky experiences.

The goal of this design approach was to convey a profound sense of sophistication and craftsmanship, mirroring the same care and precision that go into the creation of each bottle. It was more than aesthetics; it was a tactile representation of The Perfect Fifth’s philosophy and the rich musical heritage embodied by the term “Oran.”

In essence, this design work was a harmonious fusion of art and craftsmanship, a testament to the brand’s dedication to delivering not just exceptional whisky but an entire sensory experience. The resulting packaging does more than protect the contents; it elevates the whisky to a work of art, inviting connoisseurs to appreciate not just the drink but the legacy and tradition that inspired it.
