ABOUT
This project is focused on changing how sanitary pads are packaged in India, where customers often hide them in newspapers after purchase. The packaging design aims to break this cycle of concealment by transforming the act of using sanitary pads into something more engaging and empowering.
CONCEPT
The inner boxes are designed with a unique twist: as each pad is used, the user flips the empty inner box, gradually revealing a beautiful, hidden illustration. The more pads they use, the more the artwork is revealed, turning the process into a positive and creative experience. Once the cycle is completed, the entire illustration is visible, and users are encouraged to share their journey by photographing the final artwork and posting it on social media. This engages users in a way that redefines how they interact with their period products, fostering pride rather than shame.
SOLUTION
The packaging is designed not just to hold the product but to shift cultural perceptions about periods. Each box becomes a piece of a puzzle that, when completed, encourages users to share their experience. It removes the stigma around menstruation and replaces it with creativity, empowerment, and pride. The packaging is easy to use, sustainable, and supports a more positive narrative about periods.
UNIQUE FEATURE
What makes this packaging unique is the interplay between functionality and emotional engagement. By integrating art into the design, users are invited to engage in a personal, empowering ritual rather than a concealed transaction. The interactive nature of the packaging sets it apart, transforming something often hidden into something to be shared and celebrated.
RESULTS
The final packaging design not only addresses the problem of concealment but also introduces a new, pride-driven experience. It shifts the perspective on menstrual products and allows users to celebrate their cycle in a creative and shareable way, redefining period packaging in a bold and user-friendly manner.
