LES VOILIERS DU CIEL

The Sailboats of the Sky
AOP Côte de Provence White Wine — 2025 Vintage

  1. The Creative Concept

Les Voiliers du Ciel brings together the poetry of wine and the poetry of travel.

The label draws inspiration from the flight of large migratory birds, represented here by cranes in motion. Their wings become sails, their flight paths trace an imaginary horizon, and their ascent naturally evokes freedom.

The name Les Voiliers du Ciel emerges from this metaphor: birds navigate the sky as sailboats navigate the sea.

This idea creates a subtle connection with Provence, a region shaped by both land and sea, where the sky, the Mediterranean, the lagoons and the vineyard landscapes share a single horizon.

  1. Artistic References
    Contemporary Watercolour

The visual language centres on an artistic watercolour treatment that is deliberately loose and slightly irregular.

Blue-grey pigments spread across the paper like ink, creating areas of transparency, layering and depth. This technique gives the label a painterly quality: each bird seems to emerge gradually from the pigment, as though captured in mid-flight.

The imperfections of the watercolour are intentional. They give the label a handcrafted, expressive character, in contrast to an illustration that feels overly digital or perfectly geometric.

An Influence of East Asian Art

The diagonal arrangement of the birds also recalls certain Asian artistic traditions, particularly the use of a few brushstrokes to depict birds in flight, space and movement.

Yet the reference is not literal. It is reinterpreted through a contemporary European visual language, preserving a deeply Mediterranean identity.

Movement as a Graphic Element

The birds are not simply placed on the label. They move through the composition.

Some appear close, while others seem to dissolve into the pigments. This depth creates a sense of continuous movement. The eye follows the birds as it would follow a flight path across the sky.

  1. The Colour Palette

The palette is deliberately restrained and sophisticated:

Midnight blue
Slate blue
Blue-grey
Mist grey
Ivory white
Touches of gold

Blue naturally evokes the sky, the Mediterranean, the air and freshness.

The grey tones add depth, keeping the blue from feeling too predictable or reminiscent of tourist imagery.

Ivory white recalls the light of Provence, minerality and the freshness of white wine.

Finally, gold introduces a sense of refinement. It appears as light caught on the birds, in details of their plumage and in the typography.

  1. The Role of Gold

Gold is used as more than decoration. It represents light.

It evokes the Provençal sun, evening reflections on the Mediterranean and the warm light that transforms the landscape.

The gold typography contrasts with the blue pigments, lending the overall design a more luxurious quality. It also makes the name LES VOILIERS DU CIEL the label’s true focal point.

Gold thus creates a dialogue between the blue sky and sunlight.

  1. The Bottle

The bottle has an elegant, slender silhouette that gives the label ample space.

The slightly tinted glass, combined with the pale colour of the wine, creates an almost golden glow within the bottle.

The bottle becomes an extension of the label: blue represents the sky; gold represents light; and the wine represents sunlight captured in glass.

The gold capsule reinforces this interpretation, creating visual continuity between the top of the bottle and the refined details of the label.

  1. The Presentation Box

The presentation box deliberately carries the same artistic composition as the bottle.

This choice is essential: it transforms the packaging into a collector’s piece.

The box is more than a protective covering. It becomes a tall, vertical canvas, giving the cranes more room to spread their wings.

On the bottle, the image is concentrated. On the box, it has room to breathe and reveal its full scope.

The result is a shift in artistic scale: the bottle captures a moment; the box tells the story of the journey.

This continuity creates a particularly strong visual experience when the two are displayed together.

  1. The Story

The journey begins in the sky.

Above the Mediterranean landscape, there is a moment when the sky seems to become a sea.

The birds take flight. They move in formation, carried by air currents, their wings spread like the sails of a boat.

They cross the sky with the same freedom as a sailboat crossing the Mediterranean.

This is the image that inspired Les Voiliers du Ciel.

A white wine from Provence, conceived as an invitation to travel.

Its colours tell of blue skies and the golden light of the South.
Its birds tell of movement.
Its watercolour tells of freedom.
Its wine tells of Provence.

And when the bottle is opened, the journey leaves the sky and finds its way into the glass.
