Bringing Argentine Mate to the Global Luxury Packaging Stage.

THE CHALLENGE – Designing With No Client, No Brief, and No Restrictions

Make a Mark is an international luxury packaging innovation platform created by Estal, Avery Dennison, and LEONHARD KURZ. Each year invites a select group of agencies from around the world to imagine new possibilities for wine, spirits, gourmet, and cosmetics packaging, built on three pillars: sustainability, luxury, and innovation. The designs become real physical prototypes and are published in a special book.

For the 2026 edition, Tridimage was one of twelve agencies invited. The invitation came with no client and no brief, and none of the usual constraints of a commercial project. Every design decision was left in the team’s hands.

That freedom raised a question for us: how could we represent Argentina’s DNA with authenticity while opening up to the global conversation around premium packaging?

THE SOLUTION – A Dialogue Between Mate and Luxury Spirits

ARGINTUM is a gin with notes of yerba mate, inspired by the long history that Argentina and England share. To tell it, we imagined a conversation between two master distillers, one Argentine and one English, that never actually took place. From that imagined encounter, inspired by a poem, the design takes shape.

The bottle, custom-made by Estal, reinterprets the shape of the mate gourd in amber glass, which conceals and reveals the liquid at once. True to the object it evokes, it has no base of its own and rests on a purpose-designed pedestal. With the Chill Stick, a reinvented bombilla, the piece transforms: from an object of contemplation, it becomes a mate to be shared.

On the label, embossing and microembossing inspired by Argentine silversmithing unfold into subtle volutes, creating a play of light and shadow without ornamental excess. KURZ foils add depth and pearlescent highlights that echo the sophistication of gin. Both codes coexist on an Avery Dennison substrate, and neither one dominates the other.

The sun on the stopper, developed by Tapì Group and present in our most traditional symbols, gives us a wink. It invites us to discover the story hidden in the details of the label.

THE RESULTS – An Argentine Premium Packaging Concept, 100% Ready for Production

ARGINTUM is a tension held in equilibrium between the regional and the global, South America and Europe, origin and projection.

It was officially presented at LUXE PACK Monaco 2026, the leading international meeting point for premium packaging manufacturers and luxury brands. During the event, we took part in the Make a Mark exhibition.

The project was also published in the platform’s Book Five. In addition, it was featured in specialized digital media such as Formes de Luxe, World Brand Design Society, Contraseña Magazine and Envapack Magazine.

While ARGINTUM is a concept project that is not mass-produced or for sale, its packaging design was fully realized with premium materials and top-tier suppliers.

“This is exactly the kind of work that could only exist when the constraints are ours to define. A small act of reconciliation between two worlds, told through a bottle.” – Hernán Braberman, Creative Director, Tridimage

Curator’s Insight

The hard part of turning a humble vernacular object into a luxury one is deciding where to put the precious material. Here the metal goes exactly where a traditional gourd carries it. The silver sits at the rim and at the drinking point, and the soft belly stays clear amber. The label dips into a diagonal curve that follows the swell of the glass, so it reads more like a collar than a sticker. Stepped geometric borders and a botanical relief on the lid add layers to discover without crowding the silhouette. Even the stopper’s engraved line around the sun suggests a pace for pouring, which makes the packaging part of the ritual.
