What happens when a Peruvian craft beer company decides to brew a limited edition to celebrate Peru’s Independence Day?

La Patriota (The Patriot), created by the beer company Candelaria, is the result of an experiment in which the ingredients of the typical Peruvian beverage “Chicha de jora” were added to the beer making process. A “Jora Amber Ale” was the result.

Sed Studio, coincidentally meaning thirst in Spanish, was in charge of the design of this special edition beer, for which only 5,000 bottles have been produced. For the illustration of the label Sed invited the Peruvian artist Orlando Aquije, who drew his inspiration for the design from the Peruvian coat of arms.

Even Gaston Acurio, the world famous Peruvian chef, praised this original idea and enthusiastically shared a picture of the beer on his Instagram account.
