Rose Valley, located south of the Stara Planina mountain range in Bulgaria, has long been famous for its main resource – rose oil. For centuries this place has been known for its unique climate, favorable for the cultivation of aromatic rose varieties, from which more than half of the world’s total reserves of aromatic rose oils are being produced. Therefore, when it came to the creation of wine drinks with the addition of Damask rose grown in the same Valley destined for the Polish market, our studio was required to create a label design that would fully convey the nature of this product. This is how the Damascena project was born.

While developing the design concept for Damascena rosé wines the main imperative was to reflect the floral character of the product, its connection with the Damask rose and the southern valleys of Bulgaria. Therefore, we created a composition based on a detailed pattern, the base element of which is a rose petal. The composition takes up the lion’s share of the label, and the minimalistic and restrained style of the informative part only emphasizes the rich floral pattern, which at a certain angle appears to the observer as a stained glass piece. By selectively applying golden gel to some label elements, the design enhances the perception of volume, making the packaging even more attractive on the shelf. Thus, even with a short glance, the consumer immediately grasps the main feature of the drink and its southern origin.
