Brain Melt Group is a UK based company introducing a new cold brew coffee under the brand name Brainmelt. The product range exists out of small 150ml shot cans, with different blends of a Nitro cold brew and an OOH solution of coffee concentrate, offered in big 5L bags.
Cold brew coffee, also called cold water extraction or cold pressing, is the process of steeping coffee grounds in water at cool temperatures for an extended period. Coarse-ground beans are soaked in water for about 12 to 24 hours.
The water is normally kept at room temperature, but chilled water can also be used. After the grounds have been steeped, they are filtered out of the water using a paper coffee filter, a fine metal sieve (e.g. in a French press), or felt. The result is a coffee concentrate that is diluted with water or milk, and is even sometimes served hot, but often served chilled, over ice, or blended with ice and other ingredients.
They asked us to work on their brand design and come up with vibrant disrupting packaging designs for both their product ranges.
For both products, we used strong colors and high contrast. With a funky disruptive style. The can design uses two colors colliding in an explosion, simulating the brain activity the consumer will get after enjoying a nitro cold brew.
For the bags we used the same funky style, keeping it all a big family, but worked with a mathematical illustration-based background to simulate the brain structure all leading back to the brand name.
