Campanella
Campanella is a brand of frozen Italian pizza designed for sale in major retail chains. The name, which translates to “bell,” is phonetically similar to the Italian word “compagnia” — meaning “company” — reflecting the brand’s philosophy: pizza is a product that brings friends and families together around the table.
Assignment
The task was to create a unique brand identity and packaging that could convey the Italian heritage and culture upon which the brand is built. The primary source of inspiration was traditional Italian tile patterns, which highlight the richness of Italy’s visual culture. These patterns evoke a sense of warmth, comfort, and celebration, making the product especially appealing for family and friendly gatherings.
Solution
Campanella’s visual identity was crafted with a focus on geometric patterns inspired by Italian ornaments. Each packaging color corresponds to a specific pizza flavor, conveying the emotions associated with that flavor: rich red for beef stroganoff, creamy beige for four-cheese pizza, green for margherita, deep blue for classic pepperoni, purple for truffle pizza, and a coral shade for Hawaiian pizza with pineapple and ham. The logo, designed as a decorative emblem with a focus on text and ornamental icons, recalls classic Italian quality marks, symbolizing tradition, flavor, and quality.
