More than a Gesture
Created to celebrate our studio’s first twenty five years, 1ST25Y is a limited edition collection of four handcrafted ceramic vessels, a gift to those who have shaped the journey with us.Conceived as an extension intrinsic, the box turns the act of opening into a quiet ritual. Monochromatic surfaces, tactile paper and subtle embossed details echo the vessels within, revealing form through light and touch. A box made to carry more than an object: twenty five years of ideas and creative evolution.
Curator’s Insight
The exterior finish here is doing something quieter than it first appears. That mirror-chrome surface does not just read as premium, it actively reflects and absorbs the environment around it, making the box feel less like an object placed in a room and more like a fragment of the room itself. That’s a deliberate departure from how most anniversary or milestone packaging behaves, which usually announces itself through color, texture or ornament. This one recedes until it is opened.
The reveal is where the real structural thinking lives. Cracking the lid exposes a fully matte black interior, a total tonal inversion from the reflective shell. That contrast is not decorative, it is sequencing. The box is built to deliver two distinct sensory states in a single gesture, mirrored world outside, absorbed stillness inside, which mimics the emotional arc a retrospective object is meant to trigger: recognition, then reflection.
The die-cut tabs on the black card insert are worth sitting with too. Reading CLAY, CONCEPTUAL, CELEBRATION and QUARTER-CENTURY, they borrow the visual language of index or archive tabs, the kind used to file and retrieve records. Applied to a twenty five year milestone, that’s a quiet structural pun: the packaging behaves like an archival system for the studio’s own history, with each vessel functioning as a tabbed entry rather than a standalone gift.
