This project aims to develop new packaging for Asian Fine Food’s spice blends gift set. The product’s unique selling point is its pure spice blend, while the packaging must be user-friendly. The project’s scope emphasizes the importance of incorporating the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as a critical component.
As a result of the analogy of spices as culinary medicine, I conceptualized an eco-friendly packaging design inspired by traditional Chinese medicine packs. This concept emphasizes how spices, like medicine, can transform and elevate, resulting in a truly satisfying and nourishing culinary experience.
In terms of materials, the bamboo weaving used in the packaging not only narrates the tale of Asian cuisine’s traditional and cultural roots but also aligns with the commitment to eco-consciousness. The bamboo string, a symbol of enduring spice essence, embodies a dedication to sustainability. Furthermore, the inner packaging is made of paper, which contributes to waste reduction and be folded in traditional Chinese medicine packaging methods.
Apart from that, the packaging serves as an educational platform, offering insights into spice knowledge. It includes introductions, details about dishes that can be created with each spice blend, and information about their potential medical benefits. This holistic approach ensures that consumers not only receive a high-quality product but also gain a deeper understanding of the spices they’re incorporating into their culinary ventures.
