About

Packaging design for a hypothetical Indian brand that challenges the taboo regarding open communications about vaginal health and wellness in India. According to the research conducted, most Indian women do not know much about vaginal health and tend to suffer in silence instead of talking about it and seeking help. They tend to use home remedies which might not be safe in the long run. This topic is considered as a taboo in India and not talked about openly. The product for which the packaging is designed is a vaginal pH testing kit. The usage of this product will help detect infections in the earliest stage possible.

Concept

Nomenclature Bindu means a water droplet or a dot. Just like how a water droplet falls in the still waters and creates ripples, breaking the silence, just like that, Bindu will break the taboo and encourage the change in the societal norms. Packaging

  1. Opening of the box: This is not the stereotypical box to open. The perforations help open the box, putting out that it is a form of ‘peeling off the label’. It also opens up to be a container for the inner boxes.
  2. Ripples on top of the 9 primary packagings: When the box is opened, all the 9 primary packagings together form a visual representation of ripples, which stands for the meaning, even if one person stands up for this, it will create an impact on the ones around them.
  3. Continuity in the figurine illustration: When four primary packagings put together, the figurine is completed, which signifies that one person can not change the societal norms and the mindsets, however, when many such individuals come together, this change in the society is possible.
