Challenge:
For the Deepavali season, VS Mani & Co., a beloved South Indian filter coffee brand, aimed to create a gift box that would resonate deeply with Tamil culture. The brand wanted a packaging design that not only showcased South Indian aesthetics but also offered a memorable, premium gifting experience for the festival.
Solution:
We drew inspiration from the rich cultural symbols of Tamil Nadu, selecting the iconic Thalaiyatti Bommai (traditional Tanjore dancing doll) as the central element. This motif captures the essence of Tamil heritage while adding a nostalgic touch. Surrounding the doll, we incorporated a Tanjore painting-inspired design with intricate, vibrant elements that mirror the ornate style associated with Tamil Nadu’s art. The design concept emphasized the act of mixing filter coffee, a ritual close to the heart of many South Indian families. To elevate the packaging further, we suggested using gold foil and blind UV techniques, giving it a sophisticated finish and tactile appeal.
Impact:
The VS Mani Deepavali gift box received an enthusiastic response, with many customers pre-ordering it as a special gift for loved ones. This culturally enriched design not only increased brand recognition but also transformed the gift box into a keepsake, appreciated for its artistic and cultural authenticity.
