This is an academic branding and packaging project done for Varanasi’s wooden lacquerware toys.
Varanasi is famous for toys and creating designs with the natural veins of the wood. These toys are made without any joints. They are attractive and harmless playthings for children. The craftsmen here claim to be Kunder Kharadi Samaj. When a marriage is being fixed the boy’s family makes sure that the bride-to-be is familiar with the lathe, so pivotal a role does it seem to play.
The brand was named Lagud after extensive research & brainstorming.
Lagud toys are not just for the kid’s playtime, it is meant to delight and inculcate traditional values as well. These toys also tell mythological and religious stories of their time. The key values are:
- Imagination
- Creativity
- Fun
- Storytelling
Packaging Design: Embark on a journey where sustainability meets creativity in the unveiling of my innovative packaging design for wooden lacquerware toys. I am thrilled to introduce a packaging solution that enhances the overall appeal of these sustainably made wooden toys. Crafted from 100% sustainable, handmade paper, my packaging reflects a dedication to eco-conscious practices, mirroring the eco-friendly identity of the toy within. Let’s dive into the delightful details of the packaging that is both economically sourced and visually captivating.
Sustainable Materials: At the heart of this packaging lies a commitment to environmental responsibility. Crafted entirely from handmade paper, my packaging minimizes its ecological footprint. The use of sustainable materials not only underscores my dedication to preserving the planet for future generations but also ensures that each packaging tells a story of conscientious craftsmanship, mirroring the sustainable nature of the wooden toy it houses.
Vibrant Graphics: Prepare to be captivated by the kaleidoscope of colors adorning my packaging. Designed with children in mind, the vibrant and playful graphics are intended to spark joy and ignite the imagination. The vivid hues create an instant connection with young minds, setting the stage for an exciting unboxing experience. These eye-catching visuals not only appeal to the little ones but also evoke a sense of nostalgia for parents, adding an extra layer of relatability.
Inspired Shape: My packaging takes on a unique form inspired by the iconic Indian taxi or auto-rickshaw. This design choice serves a dual purpose—firstly, it instantly resonates with the cultural backdrop, adding a touch of familiarity for both kids and their parents. Secondly, the auto shape adds an element of playfulness to the packaging, turning it into more than just a means of transportation for the toys within. It becomes an integral part of the overall toy experience.
Economic and Accessible: I believe in making quality, sustainable toys accessible to all families, and that ethos extends to my packaging. Despite its sustainable origins and vibrant design, my packaging remains cost-effective. By keeping the packaging reasonably priced, I ensure that the overall product maintains affordability, making it an attractive option for families of all backgrounds.
