The client is a craft cheese factory from Omsk called “Nad Khlebom S Maslom”, which means “Above bread and butter”. The brand’s product line includes semi-hard, soft and brined cheeses.
The goal of the redesign is to convey the locality and craftiness of the brand, make the packaging more recognizable and modern, and attract a young audience attention to the brand.
The city of Omsk is famous for its steppe landscapes. The brand name contains the word “above”, and the product-cheese give me assotiations such as light, sky…cloud. This is how the metaphor appeared: cheese is a cloud.
I created illustrations that follow the shape of each type of cheese in the form of a cloud. Types of cheese are color coded: soft is blue, brined is green, semi-hard — orange. Cheese flavors are illustrated with special compositions — herbs and nuts.
Each type of cheese has a unique packaging form factor. To maintain brand recognition, each type of packaging is based on a square, it refers to the frame with a landscape.
