The Woobles, a brand known for their engaging learn-to-crochet kits, collaborated with Barbie to create a special collection. The challenge was to design packaging that celebrated this exciting partnership while effectively showcasing the products.

Inspired by the iconic “Barbie behind plastic” aesthetic, we reimagined this classic approach for the individual character packaging. We explored the use of holographic pouches, allowing the vibrant colors and unique features of each doll to be the focal point. To accommodate the diverse range of hair and skin tones within the collection, we thoughtfully combined photography with illustrative elements, highlighting key details like clothing and hairstyles. The overall approach prioritized a clean and uncluttered design, allowing the iconic Barbie brand and the playful Woobles identity to shine through.

The most ambitious aspect of the project was the design of the limited-edition collector’s box. Recognizing an opportunity to go beyond mere packaging, we transformed the box itself into an interactive play space – a miniature Barbie Dreamhouse. The box was ingeniously designed to fold out, creating five distinct rooms: a bedroom, living room, kitchen, wardrobe, and office. To enhance the play experience, we included interactive elements like a slide, a pool, and modular furniture that could be rearranged. The interior of the box was adorned with a playful blend of illustrations and photography, creating a whimsical and engaging environment. Finally, a sleek, removable sleeve was added to the exterior, providing a refined presentation for retail shelves.

The Woobles x Barbie collection was well-received, demonstrating how thoughtful packaging design can enhance a product experience and bring joy to kids and adults.
