The story behind the label design for the household wines Tronciu is both heartwarming and unexpected. One day, a man has entered our office by mistake as he was searching for the nearby sewing workshop, where he was hoping to get some ropes for tying up his vines. When he saw that we’re creating wine label designs, the man happily told us that he has a small winemaking household and he was just looking for someone who could make a label design for the first batch of his wines. That man was Nicolai Tronciu, whose farm is partially supported by the USAID program, which we’ve worked with several times in the past. Appreciating such a lucky coincidence, we have set upon creating a label design for Tronciu wines that are full of love for the work of the farmer’s life.

This design is distinctly simple and laconic reflecting the winemaker’s philosophy and his attitude towards his own product. Instead of a complex color scheme and a rich set of graphic elements, this design features only a single shade of black over the natural tint of wine label paper, with a selective gold foil stamping of a handful of details. The main role in this design is given to the illustration that depicts the winemaker resting in a tree’s shade among the vines and watching the birds soar above. This composition wields a personal aspect for our client, whose children have all left home and spread around the globe, and whom he’s always waiting for back at the family household. We’ve tried to reflect these emotions through the Tronciu wine label design inspired by a parent’s love and diligence.
