Laura Esquivel: Como agua para chocolate

In Like Water for Chocolate Esquivel employs magical realism to combine the supernatural with the ordinary throughout the novel. Each section begins with a Mexican recipe which is closely connected to the story. The dramatic romance is full of fragrance, flavours and passion. I represented these ingredients of the story by a digital illustration in which the main motifs of the novel interact playfully.
