In the heart of Volos, where the Pagasetic Gulf meets the majestic Mount Pelion, a beer brand emerges that is more than just a drink—a visual and cultural statement. Voliotissa, meaning “the girl from Volos,” is not only a craft beer but a tribute to the region’s art, tradition, and storytelling. While its flavors delight the palate, it is the striking label design that first captures attention, setting it apart as a true work of art in the Greek craft beer landscape.

At the heart of Voliotissa’s branding lies an iconic female figure, a representation of the strong, independent, and charismatic women of Volos. This illustration is more than a decorative element—it is a nod to history, culture, and the artistic heritage of Greece. Each label features a variation of this central character, reflecting the different personalities of the beer styles while maintaining a consistent and recognizable identity.

The design of Voliotissa’s labels masterfully blends elements of Greek art, modern minimalism, and bold graphic storytelling. The use of simple yet expressive lines, vibrant colors, and geometric patterns creates a contemporary aesthetic that remains deeply rooted in Greek artistic traditions. This approach mirrors the dual identity of Volos—a city that respects its past while embracing innovation.

Each label is carefully crafted to tell a story, with elements that represent the natural landscape, culture, and essence of Volos. The wind-swept hair of the Voliotissa figure symbolizes the sea breeze from the Pagasetic Gulf, tying the design to the coastal charm of the city. Every beer variety features a distinct color scheme that reflects its unique characteristics:

  • Lager – Warm golden hues representing sunsets over the sea.
  • Weiss – Cool blues and whites, evoking the sky and the purity of wheat.
  • IPA – Vibrant greens and earthy tones, symbolizing the boldness of hops and nature’s richness.

The Lager label presents a serene and sophisticated portrayal of the Voliotissa muse. With warm amber and golden tones, the artwork conveys a sense of balance and harmony, much like the beer itself. The background features the university of Volos and the Monument to the Fallen, as the most recognizable place of the city.

The Weiss label is infused with airy blues and pastel oranges, echoing the soft, fruity, and aromatic nature of the beer. The artistic rendering of the Voliotissa muse on this label is whimsical and free-spirited, with elements that hint at the city’s train station an the train of Milies (Mountzouris) in Pelion.

For the IPA label, the design takes on an edgier, more dynamic look. Deep greens, earthy browns, and vivid yellows create a striking contrast that mirrors the strong hoppy bitterness and adventurous character of the beer. The Voliotissa figure on this label appears at the city’s port and clock.

The Voliotissa branding is about creating a strong visual identity that resonates with people. The brand achieves this through the art style, typography, and color schemes across all three beers, creating a cohesive and instantly recognizable look.
