Dreaming of August is a brand of reed diffusers inspired by the nostalgic feeling that you get when the summer ends. That feeling that you get in the middle of autumn or winter, when you remind yourself about your last summer’s adventures, and start imagining where your next summer will take you. The goal of this project was to create a delicate, minimalistic brand identity and custom-illustrated packaging designs that will inspire you to let go of the day-to-day stress and worries and immerse yourself in a summery dream.
The brand identity for Dreaming of August had to reflect the brand’s high-quality, sustainable ingredients and processes, as well as their eco-friendly approach, while the plan for the packaging was to create a natural, botanical design that will catch the eye and convey the feelings of joy, excitement and deep relaxation. The main inspiration chosen for this project was a summer in Greece, full of sun, flowers, fruit, and exotic scents.
In order to reflect this fresh, relaxed feeling, cobalt blue became the main brand colour, and with the addition of bright oranges and yellows they all created a vibrant, eye-catching, summery colour palette. To reflect the luxurious, yet natural and minimalistic character of the brand, a combination of elegant geometric sans-serif fonts with a small accent of a serif italic came together in a modern, asymmetrical alignment with lots of white space to let the design breathe.
Additionally, each diffuser scent was paired with a custom watercolour illustration draped on top of the boxes, conveying the natural and organic qualities of the complex, layered fragrances full of exotic notes. These elegant, colourful designs help to reflect the quintessential fragrances of summer and inspire the feelings of peace and ease. Because what’s better than letting go of stress and worries, and immersing yourself in a dream full of rich, summery, floral scents.
