Prohibition and moonshiners, black liquor market and AL Capone, old-school gangsters and car tuning – the ban on producing and selling alcohol in 1920-1930s has left a big mark in modern culture. And even after nearly a century since the Prohibition was lifted in the USA we’re still experiencing the echoes of those times all over the world. Namely this period of modern history has served as a source of inspiration for the new product line of distilled drinks produced according to the classic recipes of the Prohibition era. Moonshine Runners are the rakish drivers who were tuning their cars in order to outrun the law enforcers while transporting illegal alcohol. This concept has been reflected in the label design for the new brand.

The visual aspect of the distilled products under the Moonshine Runners brand is heavily influenced by the aesthetics of the early ХХ century with its common font types and graphic elements. The front of the label reminds of a stencil poster painted by hand in order to mark the bottle. The handmade theme is continued on the back of the label featuring all the technical information of the product. The other side of the label features a detailed brand legend explaining the inspiration for the drink. Each product in the line features a custom illustration depicting various scenes from the lives of illegal liquor runners. The label printing process involved some foil stamping and tactile varnish application. However, these post-printing techniques have been applied in moderation in order to keep the authentic craft spirit of the overall composition intact.
