Your Artsy Material – Matièr

Matièr is a cosmetic brand, and its name originates from Matière in French (meaning “materials”). The brand slogan says, “Your Artsy Material,” meaning that Matièr offers beautiful materials that can create an artistic look. The products come in a book-shaped package, presenting a subscription service for cosmetics. Colors in each issue are inspired by an artistic image, which implies an artistic value of makeup.

For the logo, we have used a custom typeface based on typeface times. The ‘times’ is one of the most common and textbook types of typefaces. The type itself elevate the value from the average to elegant with the treatment just as the cosmetic does. We engineered the package so that the lipstick can be lifted with the strap to keep the package looking sleek. The book magazine motif shows desirable harmony with the artwork that Matièr wants to present. The package system allows simple management for continuous products.
