skinBRO

skinBRO: Masculine Skincare Packaging Design

Project Overview:
skinBRO is a masculine skincare kit designed to break stereotypes and tackle misinformation and hesitation among young men about skincare routines. Created for beginners, it combines simplicity, education, and a playful spirit to encourage healthy skincare habits without shame or complexity.

Design Concept:
The packaging draws inspiration from the vibrant world of arcade games and comics, using a bold, pixelated aesthetic to connect directly with its target audience. The box structure mimics an arcade console, with angled panels that frame the products like a game screen, turning the unboxing into a playful, collectible experience. Vibrant colors and strong typography reinforce the brand’s confident and straightforward personality, making skincare approachable and fun.

Materials:

  • Outer sleeve: Folcote cardstock, 14 pt thickness
  • Stickers: Vinyl, durable and high-quality
  • Transparent protective cover: Acetate, adding a glossy, collectible finish

Target Audience:
Young men who are new to skincare and seek practical, no-nonsense solutions. They often feel skincare is complicated, expensive, or “not for them.” skinBRO speaks their language — clear, direct, and friendly — to empower them to care for their skin confidently.

Communication & Functionality:
The packaging uses an informal tone that sounds like a friend guiding you step-by-step: instead of technical jargon, it says things like “Your first step. Let’s go.” Icons and “levels” organize the routine visually, and legal info is discreetly placed to avoid clutter. A QR code links to Instagram content for deeper learning, reinforcing the brand’s educational mission.

Designer’s Insight:
As a graphic designer passionate about illustration and storytelling, I aimed to create a package that’s not only visually striking but also meaningful and functional. skinBRO merges a nostalgic arcade aesthetic with modern branding to build a relatable identity that encourages young men to start their skincare journey with confidence and style.
