Service Design for a participatively-owned, leading tea manufacturer in Kerala (India).

The Ripple brand has always been more than just tea. Its parent company, Kanan Devan Hills Plantations Company Ltd., has tea gardens, takes care of forests, builds roads and hospitals, and is participatively managed by all its employees. It’s a rare company that has this privilege and stature – and this was locked into the identity ‘From the hills and hands of Munnar’.

Our extensive Service Design engagement focused on bringing various aspects of the brand alive across multiple touch points – from in-store graphics to packaging and signage. All of this came together at Chai Bazaar – KDHP’s flagship store in Munnar. Our unique visual language used contour lines to replicate tea gardens and give a sense of a brand intricately connected to the land – and supplemented these with flora and fauna characteristic of Munnar. Bringing alive a story that was a celebration of all things Munnar!
