Mendō is a fictional Japanese men’s cosmetics company that provides solutions for various skin problems.
The brand places great emphasis on acceptance and equality. It aims to normalize men’s daily facial care routines. The focus of the brand is on the Japanese Kabuki theater genre, where men also acted. The actors wore various cosmetics and paints during the performances to express different emotions.
When designing the packaging, I considered it important that it should be easy to transport, so I made it without gluing, so the box could be completely opened and stored. I have created a product line of three products that offer a face mask powder base suitable for different skin types. Available for acne-prone, sensitive and normal skin.
The packaging shows various color and illustration mutations, different variations of the brand’s 3 main colors and the visual elements. The illustrations were inspired by the Japanese Kabuki theater’s typical instruments, sets, and the costumes’ (kimono) pattern. I also made pictograms for the brand, which indicate skin types.
