From the sparkle of Mayan jewels to the rich subtleties of Agave spirit.

Amidst the remains of one of the greatest lost civilizations of Central America, artifacts are revealed in all their magnificence. These treasures, passed down through the centuries, leave distinct traces behind of a past culture.

Tequilas with their rich graphic folklore are an integral part of the craftwork of these gems. And SAAS is no exception. Unlike gaudier styles, our eye here is intrigued by a delicate and structured composition, more closely paralleling the artistic mood boards of the larger luxury jewelry houses.

The label composition is deliberately toned-down in order to allow the illustrations of jewelry and thousand-year-old amulets to express themselves fully. Meticulously created by hand, these illustrations use gouache drawing and coloring techniques.

“Lineal” SAAS typography counter-points two languages: contemporary texts and illustrations taken from pre-classical civilizations…The colorimetric dominance of the emerald green hue of the illustrations matches the color of the glass bottle. Imperfections with contrasting reliefs are reflected in the choice of patterns inlaid in the glass, exploiting the particular pigmentation of the agave stems.

SAAS is a bottle taken from an ancient world, becoming more than a simple container, but very much a true object to be contemplated. Taken from a historical and artistic period, it illustrates the jewels of one of the greatest civilizations of Central America.
